What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies — such as local storage and tracking pixels — work in comparable ways. They help a site function, remember your choices, and understand how it is used. In this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these technologies.
How we ask for your consent
When you first visit, we show a cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the site cannot work without them. All other categories are switched off by default and are only enabled if you choose Accept all or turn them on under Manage preferences. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time.
The categories we use
Strictly necessary Always on
Needed for core functionality — page navigation, security, and remembering your cookie choice. These do not track you and cannot be switched off. For example, your consent preference is stored on your own device so we don't ask on every page.
Analytics Off by default
Help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular and where people run into trouble — so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics (GA4), loaded through Google Tag Manager. These load only after you allow analytics cookies.
Marketing Off by default
Used to measure and improve our outreach and, where relevant, to show more useful content. These load only after you allow marketing cookies.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties whose services we use:
| Provider | Purpose | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics / Tag Manager | Website usage measurement | Analytics |
| YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) | Plays embedded videos; sets cookies only after you click play | Necessary (on interaction) |
Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID>, kept for up to two years, and only after you allow analytics cookies. Google Tag Manager itself sets no cookies. Your cookie choice is stored on your own device, not in a cookie.
Managing cookies in your browser
Besides our banner, you can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set most browsers to warn you before a cookie is stored. Note that blocking some cookies may affect how the site works. Guidance is available in the help pages of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. The latest version will always be available on this page.
